SAINTS ON POSTCARDS

The pursuit of collecting postcards and stamps featuring saints could be interpreted as a mix of spiritual devotion, historical curiosity, and a fascination with the transformative power of the human spirit.

As far as I am concerned, the lives of saints have always fascinated me. I was raised Catholic, but I do not practice in church. I do remember many saints’ stories I learned throughout my life while attending church and catechism. I found that these individuals’ beliefs were amazingly strong, which I admire. I also enjoy the artistic aspect of collecting images of saints on stamps or postcards; most of the time, the work of masters is featured to represent these saints.

Additionally, there is the tradition of the Catholic calendar, where specific feast days or memorials are assigned to each day to honor saints.

In Italy, where I’m from, the day featuring the saint you are named after is celebrated much like a birthday. I think it is a lovely tradition.
