Postcard from Italy
Bridge in my hometown, Lecco, Italy, back in the old days….. The railway bridge is over the river Adda, where Lake Como transitions back into a river (the river flows into the northern end of Lake Como, contributing significantly to the lake’s volume). The bridge is still there now, but it looks a little different. The bridge in the background was built by Azzone Visconti, Lord of Milan, in the first half of the 14th century.
I took this photo of the same railway bridge earlier this year
I think I might feel safer on the new bridge. That lattice work reminds of what you might see under porches and like it might be a little flimsy. But the postcard is a great view. ~violet
I like the decorative ironwork and the two layers of bridge history in one postcard. Interesting to see the bridge today in its more functional form.

Although probably the modern one works better, the older one is quite original. It seems to me a textile work.

I think it was made of wood, not really strong…

The first one is incredible! How amazing to see it then and now. What a great mountain in the background.
