According to Christian tradition, Saint Anne was the mother of Mary, the wife of Joachim, and the maternal grandmother of Jesus.
In the Catholic Church, the Feast of Saints Anne and Joachim is celebrated on 26 July. It is now known in the Greek Orthodox Church as the feast of “The Conception by St. Anne of the Most Holy Theotokos”, and is celebrated on 9 December.
