The painting depicts Matisse’s model and assistant, Lydia Delectorskaya, wearing a dress she made herself.
The original artwork is currently held in the collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
It is known for its restricted color palette of red, blue, and black.
That’s a very pretty painting. I will say, I think the black and white beads she’s holding draw the eye away from the rest though. At least my eyes!
