U is for UNESCO

Algeria – 1982 Garden of Dey – Series Views of Algeria before 1830 –
The “Garden of Dey” is an ancient garden associated with the Palace of the Dey in Algiers, Algeria, a historical structure within the UNESCO-listed Casbah. While no specific “Garden of Dey” park exists today, the Jardin d’Essai du Hamma(Hamma Botanical Garden) is a historic garden located nearby in Algiers. Historical depictions from the 19th century and even postage stamps depict an area called the “Garden of Dey,” suggesting it was once a well-known, though potentially no longer extant, royal garden.
