Short story made long. Last century I began a poetry blog on Blogger. Before long I was following one other blog. The woman would find old postcards, drive to where the photo was taken, take an updated photo approximating to original, and then write a story of all that happened between the two pictures.
I just found this interesting, and would catch up with her work whenever I posted a new poem. I knew her name and followed her work. That was that.
Ten or so year later I found out my cousin’s daughter had move from New Orleans to Los Angeles, where I lived. I only knew this third hand through my cousin’s sister, who I was close to through Facebook and funerals.
When I found out the daughter/niece was showing work at a nearby gallery, I dropped in, surprise her, and introduced myself. We were complete strangers until then, but became close enough to follow from a distance on Facebook, from where she invited to her wedding three three years later.
The wedding was a free wheeling outdoor baroque hippy sort of thing. Tons of fun! After vows were exchanged I was introduced to The Mother of the Bride, who turned out to be the mysterious postcard woman from all those years before,
OMG, this is amazing! I love serendipity stories like this one!!! They create so much joy, don’t they? How lucky for you to experience one…. Thanks for visiting.

I like that scene in Taiwan. Postcrossing people often want those other type of cards. I have a few, not old, reprints.

A volcanic national park is so interesting. I like Rose Wong’s geyser. Love the colours in Glacier Park, and of course the goats and soaring birds.
