USA – 2025 Battlefields of the American Revolution. In preparation for the 250th anniversary of the United States, these stamps honor the battlefields where so many sacrificed to make our celebration possible. The stamp pane pairs photographs of five battlefields and historic sites with dramatic paintings of pivotal moments in the American Revolution by artist Greg Harlin, whose illustrations span two stamps each. Art director Derry Noyes designed the stamp pane.
Poland – 2025 Prussian Homage 500th Anniversary. Jan Matejko’s “The Prussian Homage” is a celebrated historical painting created between 1879 and 1882, glorifying this event in Polish history. It depicts Albrecht Hohenzollern kneeling before King Sigismund I in 1525, symbolizing Prussia’s allegiance to the Polish Crown. This act transformed the Teutonic State into the secular Duchy of Prussia, becoming the first Protestant state in Europe and a Polish fief.
I like the combination of small and large stamps. By coincidence I read a quote by George Washington in an article along the lines of, the British have to win, all we have to do is not lose. An insight as true today for Ukraine in their never ending war as then.
Fine stamps, although was is not my favourite subject!
