Poland – 2024 European Tree of the Year – Common beech ‘Atropunicea’.
A 200-year-old beech in southwest Poland has been named European Tree of the Year 2024 at a ceremony in the European Parliament. It is the third year in a row and the fourth time overall that a Polish tree has won the contest.
Guernsey – 2021 Common Tern
Russia – 2022 Gzhel Ceramic Titled “Tea Party”
Switzerland – 2025 Jean Tinguely, 100 Years. Jean Tinguely was a Swiss sculptor best known for his kinetic art sculptural machines that extended the Dada tradition into the later part of the 20th century. Tinguely’s art satirized automation and the technological overproduction of material goods.

  1. Love the happy Teacher’s Day! And if I ever go to Poland, I will make a pilgrimage to their trees of the year. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a tern, but I would like to.
