Thursday Postcard Hunt – National Parks

“National Parks” is this week’s theme for Thursday Postcard Hunt.

Postcard from USA.

Yosemite National Park is in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. It’s famed for its giant, ancient sequoia trees, and for Tunnel View, the iconic vista of towering Bridalveil Fall and the granite cliffs of El Capitan and Half Dome.

Postcard from Chile

Torres del Paine National Park, in Chile’s Patagonia region, is known for its soaring mountains, bright blue icebergs that cleave from glaciers, and golden pampas (grasslands) that shelter rare wildlife such as llama-like guanacos. Some of its most iconic sites are the 3 granite towers from which the park takes its name and the horn-shaped peaks called Cuernos del Paine.

Postcard from Austria

Chamois.
The Gesäuse National Park is a national park in the Austrian state of Styria. Located in the mountainous Upper Styrian region, it covers large parts of the Gesäuse range within the Ennstal Alps and the steep water gap of the Enns river.

Postcard from Finland

Oulanka National Park is a national park in the Northern Ostrobothnia and Lapland regions of Finland, covering 270 square kilometres. The park was established in 1956 and was expanded in 1982 and 1989. It borders the Paanajärvi National Park in Russia.

  1. The mountains are amazing (so interesting how you can see the individuality of the Canadian Rockies, the US and the Andes). But for hiking, I think I’d prefer Finland.
