Sunday Stamps: Military

“Military” is the theme for today’s Sunday Stamps.

Russia – 2022 Hero of the Russian Federation, D. V. Semyonov (1989-2022), was the Chief of Staff of a Special Operations Brigade, Guards Major. Semyonov was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation (posthumously).
Russia – 2020 Aleksey Nicolayevich Botyan (1917-2020) intelligence officer. Botyan was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation for his role in protecting Krakow, Poland, from destruction by the Nazis in January 1945.
Italy – 1981 Centenary of Livorno Naval Academy. It trains officers for the Italian Navy.

Czechoslovakia – 1985 40th anniversary of Liberation

  2. Yes, Russia does like to honour its military on stamps. And some African nations like to honour American history on their stamps!

  3. Those first two were a surprise, since the images are realistic photos, unlike others. I like the use of colors in the last one.

  4. Botyan lived to a grand old age, 103! The weather looks decidedly unpleasant at Valley Forge, good imagining on a stamp from a country that never sees snow.
