..is the theme for today’s Sunday Stamps

Alessandro Francesco Tommaso Antonio Manzoni was an Italian poet, novelist and philosopher. He is famous for the novel The Betrothed, generally ranked among the masterpieces of world literature. The novel is set in early 17th-century Lombardy during the period of the Milanese insurrection, the Thirty Years’ War, and the plague. Specifically in the town of Lecco on lake Como.

I really love seeing stamps written in different languages (probably, one of the reasons why I love philately). And you found a beautiful array of them!

I’ve now googled Manuel I – He was an interesting character. The Italian stamps are busy, but in a pleasing way. The Chinese one has interesting characters all over the stamp!
