..is the theme for today’s Sunday Stamps
The Permanent Commission (PC) is a career in the Indian Armed Forces that allows women officers to serve until retirement. The Supreme Court of India ruled in 2020 that women officers should be granted PC, and that the government’s contention that women had physiological limitations was based on gender discrimination. The court’s decision was a significant step towards gender equality in the armed forces.

The armed forces have been traditionally discriminatory toward women, so it is nice that it starts to change!

Yes, women have certainly had an unequal share of trouble within the military. II’s good to see some changes – and to see it commemorated on a stamp. I really like the design of the Chinese one. A friend of mine was just in Prague – for a very short time – I must now ask if she saw these castle guards.

The Indian women had to wait a long time for that! 2020 seems so late in the game. I like the detail on the Chinese stamp, and monotones.

The China stamp does have a movie poster vibe about. 14 years of war with Japan, it must have seemed interminable.
