Sunday Stamps: military

..is the theme for today’s Sunday Stamps

Czech Republic – 2018 The Castle Guard
China – 2015 Chinese People War of Resistance Against Japan. And the 70th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War
India – 2022 Military parade – Permanent Commission to Women Officers in Indian Army

The Permanent Commission (PC) is a career in the Indian Armed Forces that allows women officers to serve until retirement. The Supreme Court of India ruled in 2020 that women officers should be granted PC, and that the government’s contention that women had physiological limitations was based on gender discrimination. The court’s decision was a significant step towards gender equality in the armed forces.

  1. The armed forces have been traditionally discriminatory toward women, so it is nice that it starts to change!

I got one of the Chinese stamps (I think it is a series), and

  2. Yes, women have certainly had an unequal share of trouble within the military. II’s good to see some changes – and to see it commemorated on a stamp. I really like the design of the Chinese one. A friend of mine was just in Prague – for a very short time – I must now ask if she saw these castle guards.
