Lithuania – 2022 Tree Cake. Cooking Tree cake has been known in European countries since the 15th century. It was baking by monks who kept the recipes for making this delicacy a secret. It is estimated that there are currently around 60 different Tree cakes recipes in the world, so they can differ both in appearance and taste. The main ingredients of Lithuanian Tree cakes “Šakotis” are wheat flour, sugar or honey, eggs and sour cream.
It is believed that this sweet came to Lithuania from Germany in the 19th century. in the second half, when it started to be baked primarily in manors and parsonages.

  2. Tree cake is a new one for me as well. Gooseberries seem almost like a delicacy as they aren’t as common as raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, etc.

  5. I have never seen anything like tree cake before. Quite interesting. The first stamps? No thanks. I don’t care for root vegetables. Well, carrots are okay! And potatoes, although I guess they are tubers.
