….is today theme for Sunday Stamps.

Germany – 1953 Machinists
Germany – 1975 Series Industry and Technology
Germany – 1975 Coal Excavator – Series Industry and Technology
Canal Zone – 1976 Dredge Cascadas – from a photo by Al Sprague. It pictures a dipper dredge, which cleared the silt and debris from the Canal.

The Panama Canal Zone, also simply known as the Canal Zone, was a concession of the United States located in the Isthmus of Panama that existed from 1903 to 1979. It consisted of the Panama Canal and an area generally extending five miles on each side of the centerline, but excluding Panama City and Colón.

  1. I always enjoy seeing vintage stamps, and the inclusion of a piece of postal history with the Canal Zone is really special. I had no idea the zone had its own stamps. Finnbadger

  2. I like the old German stamps, they depict so many occupations. Canal Zone. Now I have to go through mine and see if I have any! When the canal was being built the stamps were Republic of Panama overprinted with Canal Zone (I have some on a card sent to my grandmother). Oh, another side trip on the Internet today!

  3. I didn’t know about the ‘Canal Zone’ stamps. And the DDR stamps show an interesting perspective.
