Sunday Stamps: Marine Life

..is the theme for today’s Sunday Stamps

Singapore – 2020 Black Oranda.
An oranda is a breed of goldfish characterized by a prominent bubble-like “hood” on the head. The headgrowth or hood may be a prominent growth on the top of the head or may encase the entire face except the mouth.
Singapore – 2020 Butterfly Tail.
The Butterfly telescope goldfish is a variant of telescope goldfish that is distinguished by the butterfly-shaped caudal fins when viewed from above. It is a variety that has only recently been deemed a major lineage by a few published works.
China – 2021 Chinese White Dolphin.
China Post issued a set of special stamps entitled “National Key Protected Wildlife (First-class)”. Three out of the eight selected creatures, including the Hainan Gibbon, the Chinese White Dolphin, and the Green Sea Turtle, can be seen in south China’s Hainan Province.  The Chinese White Dolphin can be spotted in the ocean nearby Hainan Island. Hailed as “mermaids” and “giant pandas of the sea” in China, the Chinese White Dolphins newly discovered in the sea area southwest of Hainan were judged to be an independent troupe after analysis of recordings of their whistles and other sounds.
Germany – 2019 Porpoise. Porpoises are small dolphin-like cetaceans classified under the family Phocoenidae. Although similar in appearance to dolphins, they are more closely related to narwhals and belugas than to the true dolphins.
Bahamas – 1988 Four Eyes Butterfly Fish. The four-eyed butterflyfish is a butterflyfish. This species is found in the Western Atlantic from Massachusetts, USA and Bermuda to the West Indies and northern South America. Chaetodon capistratus is the type species of Chaetodon.
Hong Kong, China – 2019 Underwater World of Hong Kong
