France -2021 Charlie Chaplin The Kid. Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin KBE was an English comic actor, filmmaker, and composer who rose to fame in the era of silent film. 
Netherlands – 2010 Queen Beatrix. Beatrix is a member of the Dutch royal house who reigned as Queen of the Netherlands from 1980 until her abdication in 2013. 
Upper Volta – 1978 Captain James Cook. Captain James Cook FRS was a British explorer, cartographer and naval officer famous for his three voyages between 1768 and 1779 in the Pacific Ocean and to New Zealand and Australia in particular
USA – 2018 Lena Horne. Lena Mary Calhoun Horne was an American dancer, actress, singer, and civil rights activist.
Ajman State – 1972 Winston Churchill. Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill was a British statesman, soldier, and writer who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom twice, from 1940 to 1945 during the Second World War, and again from 1951 to 1955.
USA – 1980 Helen Keller, Anne Sullivan. Helen Adams Keller was an American author, disability rights advocate, political activist and lecturer. Born in West Tuscumbia, Alabama, she lost her sight and her hearing after a bout of illness when she was 19 months old. Anne Sullivan Macy was an American teacher best known for being the instructor and lifelong companion of Helen Keller. 
Bulgaria – 1988 Khristo Stefanov Kabakchiev, a Bulgarian communist politician, revolutionary and historian.

Czechoslovakia – 1983 Martin Luther – Martin Luther OSA was a German priest, theologian, author, hymnwriter, professor, and Augustinian friar. He was the seminal figure of the Protestant Reformation, and his theological beliefs form the basis of Lutheranism.
Austria 2020 Hedy Lamar – Austrian Inventions Frequency Hopping Process. Hedy Lamarr was an Austro-Hungarian-born American actress and inventor. She perfected a secure radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes during WWII. Hedy’s invention of radio frequency jumping technology was a vital step later on in the development of Wi-Fi. 
USA – 1932 George Washington. George Washington was an American military officer, statesman, and Founding Father who served as the first president of the United States from 1789 to 1797.

  1. Very interesting people on these stamps. Even someone I had never heard of (Khristo Stefanov Kabakchiev). It always surprises me when countries issue stamps apparently not connected with the territory. I guess it is also part of philatelic history.

    • I always wondered about that too. I thought that maybe they ran out of subjects to publish 😉. Or, maybe, they really admire those people …
