Floating lanterns were a traditional thing for the people of Corona on the birthday of the long-lost princess. Believing that she would return someday, thousands of these lanterns floated in the night sky every year on her birthday, hoping she would be further guided by their warm glow and meaning.

  1. Oh, I have cards of Bryce Canyon – never thought of that for orange! The close-up of the lichen is interesting to see. Lovely story of the lanterns.

  2. One low cost trip sounds tempting in Utah. Lichen are so fascinating and the Xanthoria family are so useful if one gets sucked into an A-Z challenge although I don’t blog enough to do one of those nowadays.
