..is the theme for today’s Sunday Stamps

Tannu Tuva was part of the Chinese empire from 1757 until 1911, when tsarist Russia fomented a separatist movement and in 1914 took the country under its protection. In 1921 independence was proclaimed for the Tannu Tuva People’s Republic, but in 1944 it was annexed by the Soviet Union and made an autonomous oblast (region) of the Russian S.F.S.R. In 1961 its status was raised to that of an autonomous republic. Tyvans constitute about two-thirds of the population (most of the rest being Russians).

You found quite a few lovely animals! I confess I like them more on stamps than in real life 🙂

Foxes are a favourite of mine. I find badgers rather strange looking, but all in all, I don’t mind any of these small animals. Interesting history of Tuva

I like older stamps, so the sable is my favorite. The others are cute though. I like Japanese stamps too.

Ermine always look lovely but probably not so entranced if I were a small mammal. I had to look up what the element was for that year of the rat (wood) before making sense of a toy mallet. Always something to learn on Japanese stamps:)
